WiThe West End Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) is pleased to announce Joseph Kornelsen as new Executive Director for the organization effective August 1, 2019. Outgoing Executive Director, Gloria Cardwell-Hoeppner officially retires at the end of July after more than 12 years with the West End BIZ.
Joseph has been with the West End BIZ since 2013 most recently in the position of Promotion & Economic Development Coordinator & Executive Assistant.
A graduate of the University of Winnipeg with a degree in Economics, Joseph has a passion for cities and frequently speaks and writes about urban issues. Joe was also a founding member and President of Functional Transit, a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting and improving public transportation in Winnipeg. He will be stepping down from that role to focus on his new position with the West End BIZ. Joseph and his wife Sandy are proud West End residents and heavily involved in the local community.

The West End Business Improvement Zone is the largest BIZ geographically, and includes approximately 1,100 businesses and organizations in its catchment area as well as 35,000 residents. The BIZ is a non-profit organization committed to working with business and area stakeholders to enhance, promote, advocate for, and support Winnipeg’s West End
