Winnipeg, MB – The West End BIZ has officially installed their 150th bike rack in the West End. The momentous rack was installed in front of Drop in Dance, a local West End business located at 1381 Portage Ave. With the help from The City of Winnipeg and support from West End businesses, the BIZ has been able to continue to install new bike racks over the years.

In 2019, the West End BIZ installed a total of nineteen bike racks throughout the neighbourhood.

“Cycling is an increasingly popular way for folks to get around our neighbourhood and we’re very pleased to provide improved infrastructure for all modes of transportation in the West End. It’s great to see more people and families exploring the neighbourhood and visiting businesses by bike,” says Joe Kornelsen, Executive Director of the West End BIZ.

“More bike racks help promote a green, active lifestyle while giving cyclists more options to park while enjoying our community,” says Cindy Gilroy, Councillor for Daniel McIntyre.

The West End BIZ is continuing to fulfill bike rack instillation requests from local business owners and members. West End business, JEM Insurance was pleased to see a new bicycle shaped bike rack installed in front of their business over the summer.

“We love having our bike rack. It goes well together with our business and we always see people locking up their bikes to it” says Diana, Insurance Broker at JEM Insurance.

The BIZ is eager to continue to provide installation services to the West End for everyone to enjoy.
