Do you love ice cream?
So do we! To celebrate National Ice Cream Day on July 18th, the West End BIZ is hosting an Ice Cream Contest with local favourites such as Dairy Queen, ROLLESQUE Roll Up Ice Cream, Scout: Coffee + Tea, and Eadha Bread. Keep reading to learn more about each location and how you could win a $100 dollar gift card to one of them.
Our first stop is a crowd favourite – Dairy Queen. Luckily for us, we have two locations in the West End. One at 981 Portage Avenue and the other at 836 Sargent Avenue. From vanilla with sprinkles, as pictured, to chocolate dip, Dairy Queen not only has the best classic treats, but also the best soft serve in town.
However, if you are in the mood to try something a bit unique, ROLLESQUE Roll Up Ice Cream at 794 Sargent Avenue is the place for you. ROLLESQUE has coined themselves as “Winnipeg’s prime destination” for their take on the Thai dessert, ‘rolled ice cream.’” With house creations like ‘Ferrero Roll-Cher’ and ‘White Chocoberry,’ you are bound to find something that you will enjoy!
Now, you may be familiar with “Winnipeg’s only play café,” Scout: Coffee + Tea at 859 Portage Avenue, but did you know that they serve vegan ice cream? Keep it classic with just vanilla or get either a strawberry, chocolate, caramel, or Oreo sundae – bring the kids to Scout for a sweet afternoon treat.
Lastly, we have Eadha Bread at 577 Ellice Avenue. Eadha is a bakery in the West End, aimed towards anti-racist, decolonizing work. Along with a great message, tasty pastries, and coffee, Eadha has partnered with Black Market Provisions to combine coffee with vegan ice cream. Pick-up an affogato – espresso poured over vanilla ice cream with cinnamon on top – or a delicious strawberry float.
Now that your mouth is watering, here is what you have to do to participate:
- Grab a stamp card from one of our participating businesses.
- Dairy Queen (981 Portage)
- Dairy Queen (836 Sargent)
- ROLLESQUE Roll Up Ice Cream (794 Sargent)
- Scout: Coffee + Tea (859 Portage)
- Eadha Bread (577 Ellice)
- Buy any ice cream treat and receive a stamp.
- Between July 5th and 18th, visit each participating business and fill up your stamp card.
- Once your stamp card is filled, send an email to events@westendbiz.ca, or DM us on Instagram @westendbiz, with a picture of your card, full name, phone number, and email address.
You have until July 21st to send us your information, and the winner will be announced on July 23rd. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to one of the participating businesses of their choice.
